A reform movement is a type of social movement which aims to change certain aspects of society more gradually than to change them quickly or fundamentally.

Explanation:

  • Though the reforms were partly related to religious beliefs, much of the 20th century reform movements was sociopolitical in nature. Women were an important part of several reform movements at the beginning of the 20th century.
  • 20th century reform movements were organised to encourage radical social reforms including the emancipation of slavery, the reformation of education, child labour, worker's rights, caste  and race discrimination,  women's rights and temperance
  • Modern day reforms too are associated with women and children including matters pertaining to right to education for the poor, caste and race discrimination,  enhancement of the backward resgion & people, opportunities for disabled, and so on.
