the back scratch test assesses the general shoulder range of motion by measuring. how close the hands can be brought together behind. the back the back scratch test is a measure of the senior fitness test. protocol developed by Jones and Rick Lee designed to test the functional fitness of seniors.

back scratch test of measuring upper body flexibility

this subject is asked to place both hands on his back. then he is asked to point the middle finger of each hand towards each other and try to touch them. attaching of the finger tips taken as zero score.

overlapping of the fingers is considered positive score and and in the fingertips do not touch at all, mistaken as negative scores . best of the two trials is considered as the final score.

*distance in interest between the extended middle fingers gives the score.
