The term North East signifies the states - Assam, Arunachal Pradesh ,.................. . The region has attained separate identity due to its unique geographical location . The hilly terain of this region surrounds itself the fertile Brahmaputra and Barak valley . The region further shares international with some foreign countries. Such a natural setting marks Assam the central place for transport and communication. There has been political and matrimonial ties and even subordination of the neighbouring rulers with the powerful royals of Assam. Barter of different items also took place with different kingdoms.
Being geographically isolated and separate from rest of the India the North East represents a common and separate identity.
