The chenab is formed by the confluence of two streams ,chandra and bhaga ,in the western himalyans in himachal pradesh .It turns west from jammu and kashmir between the steep cliffs of siwalik range and the lesser himalyas .Turning southwest it contunues to Pakistan descending from the uplands into the boards alluvial low lands of punjab province. After receiving the jehlum river near Trimmu it empties into sutlej river
