Answers
Cell surface transportation or membrane transportation refers to the collection of mechanisms which regulates the movement of solutes such as ions and small molecules through the biological membranes which are made up of lipid bilayer which contains globular protein molecules in them.
The membrane are selectively permeable which allows only regulated substance to pass through them which matches the criteria and the rest ions or molecule are not able to pass through them.
- Structure:
The cell structure is made of membrane constituting the phospholipid layer and protein layer.
- Constituents:
Cell membrane is made is made up of phospholipid and protein, which helps in controlled transportation of ions and also restricts the unwanted ionic movements.
- Microvilli:
They are cell membrane projections with increased surface area responsible for absorption and secretion of nutrients .
- Cilia and sperm tails:
They are responsible for movement and act as sensory organ .
- Junction:
They are multiprotein complex leading contact between neighbouring cells or between cell and extracellular matrix.
