Answer: Geoffery Chaucer, born in 1343, was an English writer who was famous for his wit and clever satire; even being offensive at times just to make a point. The best illustration of his satirical undertones can perhaps be found in his most famous work to date i.e The Canterbury Tales.
Some of the examples for Chaucer's use of satire from The Canterbury Tales are as follows:
1- The wart on the Miller's nose
2- Cook's leg had a puss-oozing wound
3- Since Knights used to fight in a lot of battles, the Knight in this story has taken part in practically every battle of past twenty odd years.
4- Women back then were thought to be lustful but married, so wife of Bath had five husbands and excluding her countless lovers.
6- When introducing the character of Prioress, Chaucer writes, “She was indeed by no means under grown”, implying that she may have been a little chubby.
