Different ways for the management of hazardous waste:

Hazardous waste can be managed by 'chemical', 'thermal', 'biological', and 'physical methods'. Chemical methods involve 'ion exchange', 'precipitation', 'oxidation and reduction', and 'neutralization'.

Amongst 'thermal methods' is 'high-temperature incineration', which not only can 'detoxify particular organic wastes' but also can damage them.

In the modern structure of 'hazardous waste management', a four-pronged approach has been adopted:

  • Reducing the amount of waste
  • Recycling of manufacturing waste
  • Treatment of the waste
  • The compilation, transportation, and disposition of waste in an environmentally sound manner.
