Gandhi always preached about self-discipline and classified it as one of the most important characteristics of a human being. He always mentioned that self-discipline in a man is the key to a peaceful and successful life. If a person knows how to control his mind and body at times of anger he is disciplined.

- He has also stressed the importance to keep a firm control on our palate.
- His concept of self-discipline also includes conquering anger and other emotions.
