Allele frequencies in a population may change due to four fundamental forces of evolution: Natural Selection, Genetic Drift, Mutations and Gene Flow. Mutations are the ultimate source of new alleles in a gene pool. Two of the most relevant mechanisms of evolutionary change are: Natural Selection and Genetic Drift.

genetic drift means changes in the frequency of genes.
gene flow means exchange of genes between two species.
lets take the example of beetles.
red coloured beetles survived on the bushes.but they were eaten by crows. but due to natural selection they became green in colour which was a survival advantage for them as they can now not be predicted by crows. they could now increase their population.
but now due to mating between green coloured and red coloured beetles a population of blue coloured beetles developed which is an example of gene flow as the genes were exchanged.
but some day the elephants put their paw on the blue beetles due to which many were killed but some survived. their genes were damaged and the frequency of their genes changed.
hope it helps.
