Discuss how in the story 'Salvatore', he traces the course of action and overcomes his weakness?

Throughout the story, there are several incidents where Salvatore proved himself to be a humble human and did not let any difficulty bring him down.

Explanation:

• At one incident, Salvatore is portrayed to be very anxious since he never left his native town but Maugham suggested him to join the navy. He thinks this will transform him into being an adult.  

• Similarly at another incident, Salvatore was in love with a lady and wrote her many letters but later he finds that she is not prepared to marry him at all. He instead of being upset about it accepted her decision with an open mind.
