Poland was under United worker's party in the 1980's. No party was allowed to take part in the political process of the country. A strike was taken organised by the workers of Lenin Shipyard on 14 august 1980. It was led by Lech Walesa. the main demands of the workers was:-
- right to form trade unions 
- release of political prisoners 
- removal of censorship on press
Worker's under the leadership of Lech Walesa, formed first independence trade union of poland, 'Solidarity'.Solidarity won the 1990 election and came to the power in poland. Lech Walesa became the president of Poland.
