The stages of Alcoholism can be explained through four stages-pre alcoholism, early alcoholism, middle alcoholism, late alcoholism.

Explanation:

  • During the first stage of pre-alcoholism the individual faces little to no evidence of a problematic drinking pattern as drinks are only consumed socially.
  • But this stage can accelerate too early alcoholism which can be marked as a stage characterised by increasing discomfort and inability to resist drinking.
  • The third stage ie middle alcoholism is when we see physical changes in the body of the individual like weight loss, weight gain, sluggishness, etc.
  • The last stage ie late alcoholism revolves around a long term substance abuse and as a result, the individual may develop serious health problems.
