Such rivers include Krishna, Kaveri, Godavari, Periyar, etc. ... A very recent example of such interstate water dispute can be traced to the Yamuna river water dispute between Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Answer:

hope it helps u.....

For each state in the country, there is a tribunal formed by the central government of India.  This tribunal examines the river and the states in which the river flows.  Then it decides the proportion of the volume of water in the river (that flows through the states) each state is entitled to. For example the Krishna water dispute tribunal has allocated 1000 TMC of water to combined Andhra Pradesh (including Telangana), 900 TMC to Karnataka, and 660 TMC to Maharashtra.  It was done in 2010.Now the states downstream complain that the states in upper stream have constructed dams and are storing more water than they are allocated.  So they do not get enough water downstream to feed their agricultural lands. But the other states do not agree to that. They deny any wrongdoing.  This continues forever between all states like Tamilnadu and Karnataka for Kaveri waters. The problem arises because in summers there is a water crisis in the states.  And, when there is a flood, then upstream states release all the water into the river.  Then downstream states get drowned. Thus the problem continues.  So all states want more water for summer and during irrigation periods.  No state  wants to give up their claims that the other state cheats.
