The mounting and cocoon harvest operations are the final steps in silkworm rearing. If these steps are not handled properly the quality of the cocoon filaments may be adversely affected and hard work invested earlier would be wasted. Spinning of cocoon and pupation are the instinct behavior of the silkworm. However, for commercial exploitation farmers should take lot of care for mounting operations. Wrong mounting, unsuitable mountages, adverse conditions during spinning and no/less mounting care affect all the economic parameters of the cocoon and in turn silk. Present article reviewed regarding works carried out by the Researchers in this field.
