The Himalayas to the north, the Meghalaya plateau to the south and capitals of Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur to the east serve as major influencers of the climate in North-Eastern part of India. Depending on the state, the weather of North East India in Winter ranges from chilly to biting cold. Higher the altitude is, colder it is. For example, higher altitude states such as Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh experience sub-zero temperatures accompanied by icy landscapes and snow. Whereas, the lower altitude states such as Mizoram and Tripura experience pleasant temperatures with mild winter.
