Some of the sources of thinking that went in to formulating a strategy for development immediately after independence are as follows:

  • Immediately after independence, the country was demanding norms and regulation which every citizen must follow and abide. Hence leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. B.R Ambedkar went a worldwide tour analyzing and researching the constitution of different countries and came up with a new constitution for India.
  • As agriculture was considered as source of income during British rule, after Independence the same was given major focus and made as source of livelihood for majority of the population.
  • Public investment was increased and people migrating to foreign countries were considerably reduced and many educated people stayed within the Country and strived hard for its development.
  • After Independence, the country involved itself in the process of rapid industrialization and came up with goods which were at par with the foreign good in quality.
  • Import as well as export of goods was done.
  • Education was made compulsory to all, and social issues such as poverty, unemployment were drastically reduced.
