optical fiber is one of the best mode of communication now a day's because of minimisation of losses and efficiently transporting the data.optical fibres work on the principle of total internal reflection.when light Ray enters into the fibre it suffers total internal reflection and hence transports the Ray to long distances it is an example of light wave communication.as u said when the optical fibres are broken under the sea the countries associated with these links are completely out of sync and faced huge communication fluctuations resulting in stoppage of many important transcripts
