  • On the basis of physiographic features, India is divided into six physiographic divisions, Northern and North-eastern Mountain, Northern Plain, Peninsular Plateau, Great Indian Desert, Coastal Plains and Islands  
  • The rainfall received in the desert is below 150 mm per year.
  • Most rivers flowing through Deccan plateau flow south and most of the northern region of the plateau are drained by the "Godavari River" and its branches.
  • Northern part of the India has both cold as well as dry climate where as southern parts boasts balmy to extreme temperatures.
