Following achievements are as follows :-
1. It offers power sharing with the comman people of that area and also decentralisez the power of centeral and state gov.
2. It give reservation to weaker seaction of society like SC,ST and women also.
3.It give women 1/3 seats.
4.The local or the panchayat can make thier own budget for development in villge as well.
5. It also makes your country unite and interdependent.

Rural local government in India is popularly known as the Panchayati Raj System. The Panchayati Raj Institutions in India are the prime instrument of decentralization of powers at the grass root level. The Panchayati Raj System was introduced by the Balwant Rai Mehta Committe.
Panchayati Raj System has some achievements and some problems as well.
These are as follows:
Achievements :-
☆ The introduction of local self government has helped to deepen the roots of democracy in India.
☆ It has increased the representation of scheduled caste, scheduled tribes and women as well by stipulating reservations for them in elected bodies, thus empowering these sections of the society.
Problems:-
☆ Most of the State Governments are not ready to provide powers to the local self government Neither they are ready to provide sufficient funds according to their needs.
☆ Elections of the local self governments are held regularly but Gram Sabhas, Block Committees and Zila Parishads (District Council) do not hold their meetings regularly.
