Discuss the advantages of using kilogrm as a standard uit of mass over the local units of mass
Answers
Explanation:
Kilogram is a SI unit of mass and using a SI unit there are a lots of advantages over local units such as:
1.The prefixes used in SI are from Latin and Greek, and they refer to the numbers that the terms represent. (For example, "kilo" as in "kilogram" means 1 000 and "milli" means 1/1000). You can now easily calculate the number of millimeters in a kilometer. (how many inches in a mile?..it's tough na).
2.Easy Root Words and Terminology:
For example, when measuring weight, the root word is gram, so only the prefix changes, such as with the words milligram, centigram and kilogram. In the U.S. system, units do not sound alike, such as with the words ounces, pounds and tons. Converting from the U.S. system to the metric system requires arithmetic conversions. For example, 2 kilograms of apples is equal to just over 4.4 pounds, and 5 milligrams of salt is equal to 1 teaspoon.
3. If we use local units, then the big problem is,there are thousands of local unit countrywise. Then it is impossible to learn all these local units for anyone. And in this globalisation era,How anyone can put their words to world, becoz world doesn't know our local units..and also we don't know theirs.
