and contraction at 4°C. Generally ,most of liquid gets contract and density increases if lowered the temperature below 4°C but water decreased it's density and volume increases.

therefore, at 4°C water has greater density and minimum volume.

this different behaviour termed as anomalous behaviour of water. Due to this aquatic plant and animals survived under water at 4°C .
