Answer:
Ngugi wa Thiong’o and Micere Githae Mugo’s historical play The Trial of Dedan Kimathi, published for the first time in 1976, attempts a reconstruction of the events surrounding the trial and death of historical figure and Kenyan freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi. Kimathi, who in the eyes of the imperial British government was a terrorist, a threat to the imperial power, is given a new identity by Thiong’o and Mugo – one that rehabilitates his image and depicts him as an advocate of freedom, liberty, a voice of the Kenyan people

Explanation:
Dedan Kimathi
Dedan KimathiDedan Kimathi is the main character of the play, whom all of the action either centers or revolves around. He is a Field Marshall in the Mau Mau resistance army, which is fighting to force British imperial forces out of Kenya. Kimathi was a real man who is a Kenyan folk hero to this day. The play shows people during his life discussing various rumors about his mystical abilities and even doubting that he could ever be truly captured. Kimathi gives many political speeches throughout the play and undergoes four trials that test his dedication to the fight—not just against the British, but also against the systems of domination and oppression they brought with them, up to and including capitalism itself. He is a militant leader who repeatedly encourages Kenyans to arm themselves so that they may fight and win against the British.
