The basic features of Management as a profession :
(a) WELL DEFINED BODY OF KNOWLEDGE :
All professions are based on the well defined body of knowledge which is important through colleges and universities.
Management comprises well defined body of knowledge that is imparted through different Management courses like MBA , BBA, etc.
(b) RESTRICTED ENTRY :
Entry to every profession is restricted by the way of minimum qualifications and entrance examination.
The entry in the management institutes is generally restricted through entrance examination, group discussion and interviews.
(c) PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION :
All professions are governed by their respective professional associations which grant certificates of practice, and formulate and enforce code of conduct.
There are several associations of practicing managers in India, like All India Management Association.
(d) ETHICAL CODE OF CONDUCT :
All professions are bound by the rules and regulation of their respective associations.
All India institute of India has laid down code of conduct to regulate the activities of managers.However it is not compulsory for managers to hold its membership.
CONCLUSION :
In nutshell, we can say that management does not follow all the features of profession very rigidly. So, it is not a full fledged profession.
