1.) The rocket is flying straight up at 500 feet per second. 800 feet away on level ground a camera is taping the lift-off.
2.) 
Jet aircraft fly considerably differently to propeller aircraft. In particular, during takeoff, propeller aircraft engines blow air over their wings and that gives more lift and a shorter takeoff.
