Answer:

The actual founder of the Delhi Sultanate was Iltutmish. By defeating his two chief adversaries Nasiruddin Qabacha (Governor of Uch) and Tajuddin Yaldoz (Sultan of Gazni), he made Delhi his capital instead of Lahore. By politely turning down Jalaluddin Mangbarani's request for a shelter, he spared India from the fury of Chengez Khan's army. Aibik had begun building the Qutub Minar, which he finished. In order to monetize the economy, he also introduced the Silver Tanka (175 gm) and Copper Jital coins. In addition, he received an investiture letter from the Caliph of Baghdad in 1229. He established the sultanate and became its first legitimate ruler in this way. He established the Nasiriyya College in Delhi as a school in memory of his son Nasiruddin Mahmud.

He produced Chalisa or Turkan-i-Chinalagani. This was the group of Shamsi nobles that took on the responsibility of selecting kings. Initially providing a strong administration to the Delhi Sultanate. The other issue was that these nobles took on the role of usurpers when the monarch grew frail. He also made India the first country to adopt the Iqta system. Any sultanate official received an Iqta, a plot of land, in exchange for their services.

Instead of the land itself, it was the income that was delivered. He can keep a portion of the money earned from the land for his personal costs and a portion for the upkeep of his army. As a sign of respect and subordination to the Emperor, he was required to regularly visit the imperial darbar. This structure allowed Iltutmish to assemble a group of reliable slaves—most Iqtadars were slaves—who could be called upon at any time. All of this contributed to the sultanate of Delhi's growth and consolidation.
