Keshav Chandra Sen and Henry Vivian derezio was the stalwarts of Brahmo samaj after Raja Rammohun Roy, they started a young Bengal movement with the ideals of liberty, equality and fraternity (the ideals of french revolution).The young Bengal movement was a major part of Indian nationalism.

In 1862 Sen helped found the Albert College and wrote articles for the Indian Mirror, a weekly journal of the Calcutta Brahmo Samaj in which social and moral subjects were debated. In 1863 he wrote The Brahma Samaj Vindicated.
