The process of election at as follows :-
1.Election constituency- the country is divided into different areas for purpose of elections are called Election constituencies
2.Reserved constituency- In our constitution there is provision for reserved constituencies for the weaker sections of society.
3.voter's list- In a Democratic election the list of those who are eligible to vote is prepared much before the elections and given to everyone. This list is officially called voter's list .In which every person has one vote,equal value.
4.Nomination of candidates- the minimum age is for contesting elections is 25years and above. there are some restrictions on criminals etc. but this apply on very extreme cases . political parties nominate their candidate who get the party symbol often called party ticket.every person who wishes to contest election has to fill nomination form and give some money for security deposit .
Every person has to make a legal declaration
A. serious criminal cases pending against the candidate
B.Details of the assets and liabilities of the candidate and his or her family
C.Education qualification of candidate
4. Election Campaign- In election campaigns political parties tries to focus on public attention. In our country such campaign takes place for two-three weeks between the announcement of the final list of the candidates and date of polling
According to our election law no party can:
A. Bribe or threaten voters
B. appeal to them in the name of caste or religion
C.Use government for election campaign D. spend more than 25lakhs in a constituency of lok sabha election and 10 lakhs for assembly election.
5.Polling and Counting of Votes- The final stage is the day when voter's cast votes called Election Day. After that counting starts and after countings result were announced
Election Commission- For conducting free and fair elections there is a election commission.In our country elections are conducted by an independent and very powerful Election Commission (EC). it enjoys the same kind of independence that the judiciary enjoys.
