- There are three basic types of soil: sand, silt and clay.
- Sand within soil is actually small particles of weathered rock. Sand is fairly coarse and loose so water is able to drain through it easily.
- While this is good for drainage, it is not good for growing plants because sandy soil will not hold water or nutrients.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF SOIL :-)
Explanation:
There are 6 types of soil:-
- Alluvial soil:-they are also known as "ex situ" since they have been transported by rivers as sediment . the alluvial soil is further divided into 2 types :- deltaic costal and island alluvium . they are distributed in places such as West Bengal , Punjab , Haryana , Brahmaputra valley ,Odisha and costal strip of peninsular India
- Red soil :- they are "in situ" and formed by weathering of crystalline and metamorphic rocks and has a mixture of clay and sand . they are distributed in Tamil Nadu , Karnataka , Andhra Pradesh , Chhattisgarh and Odisha .
- Laterite Soil:- they are formed by leaching of lateritic rock - under high temperature ️ and rainfall . they are very poor soil and not fit for agriculture and used for building purposes they are found in Tamil Nadu , West Bengal , Odisha , Karnataka , Goa , etc....
- Black Soil:- It is also known as Regular Soil . It is formed by lava soil due to disintegration of basalt . They are in situ and hence found in areas where they have been formed . They are distributed in Maharashtra , Madhya Pradesh , Southern Uttar Pradesh , North - western Odisha , etc......
- Mountain Soil :- they are found in hilly areas and are in situ found in Jammu and Kashmir , Darjeeling , Shimla , etc....
- Desert Soil:- they are found in desert areas and are basically sand and gets transport by winds .... which is also the main cause of erosion there.... They are found in Rajasthan , Gujrat areas.
