Discuss the econom importance of bryophytes.

bryophytes are the amphibians of the plant kingdom. They are the first to colonise rocks along with lichens to form soil.
Peat obtained from sphagnum used as fuels,they have water holding capacity due to which they are used for transshipment.
They provide food for herbaceous mammals,birds and other animals.
