⇒ In 1991 onwards it was a fashion to elect regional parties. UP, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, West Bengal, Odissa, AP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, etc., had regional parties in power. Though CPM, is a national party was confined to WB, and Kerala. Hence for all practical purposes it is a regional Marty confined to two states.
⇒ Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal, Rashtriya Janatha Dal, Indian National Lok Dal, SAD, are the defeated regional parties. Most of them do not have any future.
⇒ Bharatiya Janatha Dal of Odissa, TMC of WB, TRS of Telengana, TDP of AP, AIDMK of Tamil Nadu, are in power now. Many small near ties in smaller states like Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, are in power.
⇒ YSR Congress Party of Jagmohan Reddy, DMK of Karunanidhi, Shiv Sena of Udhav Thackeray, are not in power but have the potential to spring back to power in their states.
