Discuss the energy loss in a transformer? Write a method to minimize these losses?

There are two types losses :

1. Copper loss

2. Core loss 

a. Hysteresis loss

b. Eddy current loss.

Copper losses are due to induced current in the winding due to which heating effect is produced, copper loss cannot be eradicated completely but can be reduced  by using windings made up of copper.

Core losses:

a. Eddy current losses can be reduced by laminating the core properly.

b. Hysteresis losses can be reduced by reducing the area of hysteresis loop
