Answer:

"Hero comes to Heorot" is an episode inspired by the English epic poem Beowulf. The story begins with danish King Hrothgar, who built a magnificent hall, Heorot, to celebrate victories and prosperity of his empire. However, the son of a demon, Grendel, was a constant headache for the king. Grendel, undefeatable, wreaked havoc in the kingdom and killed many brave Scyldings. The horrific stories of Grendel's destruction reached the nearby kingdom, Sweden. Beowulf was one of the noble of Hygelac, the king of Sweden. Beowulf was fancied by the challenge as he had won many battles against demons in the past. Apart from it, Hrothgar once favored Beowulf's father, so Beowulf with the feeling of indebtedness was determined to fight against Grendel. Beowulf with 14 brave warriors reached Denmark and petitioned to meet the king. He made an inspiring speech and vowed to defeat Grendel without any weapon or shield. Hrothgar welcomed the warrior and arranged a feast in honor of Beowulf and his men. One of the Scyldings, Unferth was jealous of Beowulf and his achievements. He questioned Beowulf's ability to defeat Grandel on grounds that he lost a swimming competition against his childhood friend. Beowulf gave him a befitting reply and in a resounding speech made it clear that he not only won that competition but also defeated many demons in course of his struggle. Beowulf's speech gave new hope to Hrothgar and Scyldings. In the end, queen Wealhtheow made an appearance and Beowulf vowed to her that he would slay Grandel or die trying.
