Reasons for originating the Civil Disobedience Movement were:
The Simon Commission arrived in India in 1928. This commission was introduced in India in order to look into the responsibilities of the constitutional arrangement in India. Since this committee had had no member from India in it, it was blacklisted by all legislative bodies in the country.
Later, in 1929, the Congress under the direction of Nehru announced 'Poorna Swaraj' as its chief purpose and the nationalist enthusiasm motivated the citizens of the country.
As nationalist awareness raised to develop, Gandhi posted a message comprising eleven demands to Lord Irwin in 1930 urging him to accept all eleven demands. When he declined, Gandhi originated the Civil Disobedience Movement.
