Executive powers : -
◆ Being head of the Union executive , all the administrative decisions are taken in his/her name.
◆ He/She makes all the important appointments including those of the Prime Minister , Council of Ministers , governers , judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts , Controller and Auditor General of India and Attorney General of India.
◆ He/She is the Supreme Commander of India's defence forces.
◆ He/She has the right to be kept informed about all the decisions of the Council of Ministers through the Prime Minister.
Judicial powers : -
◆ All the judges of the Supreme Court and the High Courts including the Chief Justices are appointed by the President.
◆ On appeal for mercy , the President has the power to reduce the sentence or grant pardon or amnesty.
◆ He/She can change the death sentence or can postpone it also.

President of India is the head of the government and supreme commander of armed forces. His powers can be classified into several heads such as executive powers, legislative powers, financial powers, judicial powers, Diplomatic powers, Military powers as well as emergency powers.
