Hello friend,

Factors responsible for the distribution of population of India can be enlisted as follows:
1.Geographical factor – Mountains deserts (both cold and hot) or swampy areas have low population density while low-lying plain areas have high population density.
Example: Almost half of India’s population lives in just five states. These are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, WestBengal, and Andhra Pradesh while Ladakh and Rajasthan are sparsely populated areas.

2.Climate – Places having extreme climates are low populated areas while places having moderate climates are high populated areas.
3.Job opportunities - Metro cities and capital cities are densely populated regions due to employment and infrastructure.
4.Population from rural areas is migrating towards urban areas. Thus there is population increase in urban areas and decrease in rural areas.
5.Transportation – Transportation and communication provides better chances of economic growth and therefore places having good transportation and communication facilities are more populated than other areas.

Hope it helps

There could be many reasons for uneven population in India. Some of them are-

Unfavourable Climate- Would you want to live where it rains heavily or it doesn't even rain? Certainly no. you'd like a place that would be profitable to you both economically and physically right? That's what people prefer and that's what makes a difference in population.

Inadequate resource Supply- Second reason could be your insufficient supply of resources be it water, food grains etc. People usually prefer places which are rich in resources.

Land- Land is a major reason due to which the population can change. People don't usually like to live in hilly areas with rough terrain.

Employment Opportunities- Lack of jobs in places drive people away from the place thus making employment another factor of uneven population. Also, You must've noticed areas like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru are the most populated just because of the employment opportunities and developed infrastructure.

There are many more factors that together contribute in making India a place of uneven population.
