Fluid connective tissue :

☆ Fluid connective tissue is devoid of fibroblasts and hence is fibreless.

☆ Fluid connective tissue is composed of :

  • Blood
  • Lymph

Blood :-

Blood is composed of :

  • The liquid part called plasma. It constitutes 55 - 60 % of blood.

The plasma is a light-yellow coloured, alkaline liquid.

The plasma mainly consists of Water, protein and inorganic substances.

  • The cellular part red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets. Constituting 40 -45 % of blood.

Lymph :-

  • Lymph is the fluid surrounding the body cells.

  • It is the blood plasma that has oozed out of the blood vessels.

  • It contains white blood cells and not the red blood cells.

☆ Both blood and lymph are mainly concerned with transportation and immunity ( protection against diseases ).
