Disilyl sulphide, (SiH3)2S, and selenide, (SiH3)2Se, have been prepared and characterized by the measurement of some of their physical properties. A number of the chemical reactions of these compounds, as well as of the previously known disilyl ether, have been studied. Although these reactions were chosen to encourage the compounds to display donor activity they always failed to show such properties.
