the revolt of 1857 or the first war of indian independence occurred mainly due to the following factors
• many indian people felt sentiment for the mughal ruler Bahadur shah zafar 2nd
• the cartilage used for rifles by sepoys were mainly made from the fats of animals like cow and pig
