Some of the government policies and programmes for the welfare of families in India are:

• Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogyo Yojna – it is a universal health scheme for the economically backward families of Maharashtra.

• Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna -  this scheme has been introduced to provide financial services like savings and deposit accounts, credit, pension, insurance etc. at affordable rates.

• Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana – the main aim of this scheme is to provide health insurance to Below Poverty Line (BPL) people.
