Answer:

The common law was developed by the common people and was imposed on the rulers of the country. The civil law was developed by the rulers and imposed on the people. Of course, this is a highly simplified explanation of the development of the legal systems, but it serves as a useful frame of reference.

The criminal law of England and the United States derives from the traditional English common law of crimes and has its origins in the judicial decisions embodied in reports of decided cases.Tanzania's sources of law are based on three main sources. These are; Constitution, Acts of Parliament/Local Law, Customary law and/or Religious law, Received Law, International Treaties and Conventions, By laws and/or Subsidiary Legislation and Orders/Circulars.
