The Indian Armed Forces command is based at Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to watch over India’s interests in the Southeast Asia and Strait of Malacca. It provides administrative and logistics support to Indian naval vessels stationed in that area.

The Naval base - INS Dweeprakshak is in Kavaratti, Lakshadweep. It was commissioned in 2012, though the Indian Navy has had permanent facilities in the island since the 1980s. The installation protects vital shipping lanes from India to the Persian Gulf.

Hi,

Andaman and Nicobar Islands, are the bases for the Indian armed forces to watch over India’s interests in the Southeast Asia and Strait of Malacca. Indian naval vessels stationed in that area extract logistical and administrative facilities from these bases.

The Naval base - INS Dweeprakshak was commissioned in 2012 although the Indian navy has permanent support center created in the island since 1980s.  Its purpose is to protect vital shipping lanes from India to the Persian Gulf.
