Started in June 2000, 'e-Choupal', has now emerged as the biggest action amongst all Internet-based interventions in provincial India. e-Choupal is a joint venture of ITC Limited, to connect directly with agricultural farmers via the Internet for the acquisition of agricultural and aquaculture commodities like soybeans, corn, coffee.
Project Shakti is an enterprise to financially empower rural women and generate livelihood possibilities for them. It presents a constant income stream for the Shakti organizers and their families. HUL has instructed thousands of women in communities across India to promote an entrepreneurial mindset and make them financially self-sufficient. These women organizers (called Shakti Ammas) have been instructed on basic principles of distribution management with the Company’s products.
Both the initiatives have able to achieve the motive of financial independence to farmers and women as the act of social responsibility towards the country.
