Important provisions of the government of India Act of 1935:-
1) The real powers as usual remained in the British hands.
2) Establishment of All Indian Federation based on union of British Indian provinces and Princely states.
3) The representatives of the states to the federal legislatures were to be appointed directly by the Princes.
4) The franchise was limited to about one-sixth of the adults.
5) Defence and foreign affairs were to remain outside of the federal legislature.
