Drop out is the situation which occurs when the learner discontinues with his/her studies because of a given problem or a difficulty either within the school or outside the school situation. There are some of the factors which has lead to an increase in girls dropping out of schools as compared to their counterparts.

Education is the univrsal right for almost all the indivials in all the countries.It is not specific to agiven gender for instance both boys and girls have the equal right to access the education. There has been an increase number of dropouts among the girls in schools compared to the boychild because of the following reasons;
(a) Increase in the number of pregnancies among the girls .
(b) Increase in the early marriages among the girl chilld.
(c) Traditional beliefs whereby the girl child cannot be educated because she will be married and thus regarded as a waste of the resources.
(d) Financial constraints- lack of school fees among the girl child.
