The disadvantage of philosophical approach in political science is that it is not so much concerned with revealing truth in manner of science.For example using scientific method political scientist may examine democratic processes at work within a particular system but political philosophy is interested only in clarifying what is meant by democracy.

The philosophical approach is not concerned with the critical evaluation of political beliefs.

It is more theoretical and normative and not descriptive.
