An empire is a sovereign state consisting of several territories and people subjects to a single ruling authority, often an emperor. States can be empires either then by narrow definition through having an emperor and being named as such, or by board definition as started above in being an aggregated realm under the ruler of a supreme authority.

Answer:

The empire had a substantial economic infrastructure of harbours, mines, quarries, brickyards, olive oil factories, etc. ... Liquids like wine and olive oil were transported in containers called 'amphorae'. Spanish producers succeeded in capturing markets for olive oil from their Italian counterparts.
