Explanation:

  1. The mouth is also called the oral cavity.
  2. It is the first part of the digestive tube. This is a primary function of the food entry into the digestive system.
  3. The food is broken down in small particles by mastication with the help of chewing action of the teeth and the tongue helps in the swallowing moving from the mouth into the pharynx.
  4. During the digestion, the oral cavity formed of griding of food into small pieces through the teeth, it is called mastication.
  5. The  Chemical digestion is very minor  in the mouth but they consist lingual lipase and salivary amylase (ptyalin, or alpha-amylase).
