1)Mechanism of Monsoon involves the following concept: The phenomena of monsoon refer to the seasonal reversal of winds. It is because while the South West Monsoon winds blow from sea to land at the end of the summer season, the North east winds blow from land to sea during the winter season.

2)The withdrawal of the monsoon begins in north-western states of India by early September. By mid-October, it withdraws completely from the northern half of the peninsula. The withdrawal from the southern half of the peninsula is fairly rapid. By early December, the monsoon has withdrawn from the rest of the country.

3)The advancing monsoon is the monsoon that comes or we can say the beginning of monsoon and the retreating monsoon is the departure of monsoon or we can say the end of monsoon. Advancing monsoon:1) It is from June to September. 2) It carries moist wind. 3) It travels from sea to land.

4) (a) During October-November, the sun apparently moves towards the south. Thus, the monsoon trough over the northern plains becomes weaker and the south-west monsoon winds start withdrawing. The monsoon withdraws from the northern plains by the beginning of October.
