Shifting cultivation in India is where a part of land is cultivated for a stretch or then abandoned and shifted to some other part.

Subsistence farming is where farmers focus on growing sufficient crops and food for their families.

Then there is intensive cultivation where compared to the available land the resources of labor, fertilizer, tools are higher and extensive cultivation which is just the opposite.

These are the common cultivation types in India.
