The British general Lord Dalhousie introduced the policy of Doctrine of lapse in this policy when the ruler of his territory died without natural heir his territory immediately go into British control. He also introduced the policy of misgovernance in which ruler was removed by the British on misgovernance. Lord Wellesley introduced subsidiary alliance which was advantageous for British and disadvantageous for Indians.
